About Mauro Picotto

Mauro Picotto is an Italian DJ and producer born in 1966 in Cavour, near Turin, who first competed as a DJ before moving into production, winning Italy's televised Walky Cup competition for Disco Mix Club DJs. He became the first DJ to mix live on BBC's Top of the Pops, later making a solo appearance on the show following the success of "Komodo (Save a Soul)." He runs the long-running Meganite club night, launched in 2002 at the Winter Music Conference in Miami and held every Wednesday at Privilege Ibiza since 2004. In 2005 he headlined the dance stage at BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend in Sunderland, and his track "Lizard (Gonna Get You)" became a Gatecrasher anthem. After leaving Media Records in 2002 he founded the labels Bakerloo Music and Alchemy, continuing to release under his own Bakerloo imprint. He has recorded under aliases including CRW, MP8 and Megamind, and has collected Best International DJ honors at the German, Danish, Swiss, Irish, Spanish and Dutch dance awards, as well as a DJ Award win in Ibiza in 2005, and has placed on the Top 100 DJs polls run by DJ Mag and TheDJList.com.
