About Matthias Tanzmann
Matthias Tanzmann is a house DJ and producer from Leipzig who began DJing in 1996 and secured a residency the following year at the Distillery, the city's leading club, a slot he held for more than a decade. Born in 1977, he founded Moon Harbour Recordings in 2000 alongside André Quaas, then a co-owner of the Distillery, launching the label with the "Radio Moon" 12-inch while releasing his own debut solo track, "Rose Garden," on the same imprint.
Tanzmann first gained wider recognition producing as Gamat 3000 alongside Daniel Scholz, with the 1999 club favorite "Feeling Love," before Moon Harbour grew into a tech house and deep house label with more than 100 vinyl releases and 200 digital tracks, hosting artists including CamelPhat, Steve Bug and Robag Wruhme. By 2007 he had secured a residency at DC10 in Ibiza for the Circoloco party, a slot he has now held for close to fifteen years, and he was nominated Best Tech House DJ at the Ibiza DJ Awards for a sixth time in 2019.
Tanzmann is also one third of Better Lost Than Stupid, a collaborative project with Martin Buttrich and Davide Squillace, and his touring schedule spans festivals including BPM, Ultra and Tomorrowland. Moon Harbour marked its 25th anniversary around 2025, with Tanzmann continuing to headline residencies and festival dates while running the label from Leipzig.
