About Matador
Matador is the stage name of Gavin Lynch, a Dublin-born DJ, producer and live performer who began his career as a sound engineer before becoming a fixture on Richie Hawtin's Minus label and later founding his own imprint, Rukus. His live shows earned him recognition as DJ Awards' 2016 Electronic Live Performer and a consistent placement in Resident Advisor's annual Live Artist poll, distinguishing his performance format as revolutionary live sets rather than standard DJ mixing alone. Matador has held a residency with the ENTER series at events worldwide and has played major festivals including Awakenings, Tomorrowland, Ultra and Sonus Festival in Croatia, alongside club dates at Output, DC-10, Space Ibiza and Stereo Montreal. He unveiled a new live show at Loveland during Amsterdam Dance Event in 2016, part of an ongoing effort to develop his performance format year over year, and he has served as an ambassador for the Neve 5088 console and Richie Hawtin's PLAYdifferently Model 1 mixer. Matador's career reflects a path from Dublin sound engineering into one of Minus's recognized live and DJ performers, with Rukus continuing to serve as a platform for his own releases and those of affiliated techno artists.
