Martin Roth
Martin Roth, born in Frankfurt am Main and based in Berlin since 2007, is a German DJ, live act and composer working across deep house, techno and contemporary electronica. He held a resident DJ position at Ministry of Sound in London from 2008 to 2012, alongside a residency at the now-closed Cielo club in New York City, giving him a foothold in two of the era's prominent house club circuits.
In 2009, Roth was named a Beatport Star of the Year alongside Eric Prydz and Deadmau5 after topping the Beatport sales chart five times that year and achieving sixteen top-ten chart positions, earning three nominations at the Beatport Annual Awards for his productions and remixes. A classically trained pianist, he has released more than 400 tracks across labels including Anjunadeep, Lunatique Records and Vandit Records, and has recorded under aliases including Julian d'Or, Kick & Push and Y.O.M.C.
His EP Organic Cold Brewed Hipster Funk appeared on Anjunadeep, extending a catalogue built through the progressive and deep house scenes since 1996. Roth continues to be booked internationally as a DJ and live act, with his combination of piano training and studio production giving his sets a melodic through-line distinct from more straightforwardly club-functional house DJs.
