Marcel Woods
Marcel Woods, born Marcel Scheffers, is a Dutch trance DJ and producer from Eindhoven who began DJing in 1990 and built a two-decade career before retiring from performing and producing at the end of 2014. He also recorded under the pseudonym Mr.
Rowan and became the first DJ to perform at both Sensation White and Sensation Black in 2008, a milestone tied to his standing on the Dutch and international trance festival circuit. His single Advanced was adopted as the anthem of Trance Energy in 2006, cementing his presence within the Benelux trance scene during that period, and he was credited by industry press as instrumental in popularizing harder styles of trance and tech-trance across the region.
Woods also founded his own label, Rytmic, using it as a platform for his productions alongside his DJ touring, which took him across international trance festivals and clubs during his active years. Though he stepped away from full-time DJing and production in 2014, his run through the 2000s, marked by chart-anthem status at Trance Energy and dual bookings at Sensation's white and black-themed events, remains a reference point for Dutch trance's harder-edged wing from that decade.
