Makj — Big Room & Electro House DJMakj
Mackenzie Johnson, known as MAKJ, is an American DJ from San Luis Obispo, California, associated with big room and electro house and with hip-hop elements in his sound. Before focusing on music, he was a teenage race-car driver in China. He taught himself to DJ before receiving training from DJ AM at Icon Collective in Los Angeles, a route that helped shape his quick, energetic approach.
His collaboration with Hardwell, Countdown, reached number one on Beatport within three days of its 2013 release. The following year, Billboard included him among its Top 10 Artists to Watch at Ultra, and he made his first appearance in the DJ Mag Top 100. MAKJ has brought his festival-oriented sets to Coachella, Voodoo Music + Arts Experience, Electric Zoo, Electric Daisy Carnival, Ultra Music Festival and the Tomorrowland mainstage.
His touring has included the European Let's Get F*d Up Tour with Bingo Players and Bassjackers, as well as his own Peyote Tour. Away from the stage, he has hosted Revolution Radio on Clear Channel's Evolution channel and iHeartRadio, and has released music through Hysteria, Doorn, Diffused and Juicy Music.
