London Elektricity
London Elektricity is the drum and bass alias of Tony Colman, co-founder and CEO of Hospital Records, whose liquid funk sound and lengthy Hospital Podcast residency have made him a fixture of the genre for close to three decades. Colman co-founded Hospital Records with Chris Goss in 1996, and the label's podcast, hosted primarily under his direction, has become one of drum and bass's longest-running and most award-recognized radio-style shows, regularly featuring guest sets and premieres from the label's roster.
He has continued playing live drum and bass sets well into the 2020s, including a 2023 appearance in the label's HUB Live streamed series where he previewed material from his forthcoming Billion Dollar Remixes project. Colman's studio work under the London Elektricity name, including albums released on Hospital and its Fast Soul Music imprint, has run in tandem with his DJ and label-podcast duties rather than replacing them.
He also performs with a full live band configuration in some settings, blending studio production with instrumentation alongside his more conventional DJ sets. Colman's dual role as label boss and touring artist has kept London Elektricity central to Hospital Records' identity, with the Hospital Podcast serving as an ongoing showcase for both his own sets and the wider drum and bass scene the label represents.
