Yassine Ben Achour, known as Loco Dice, is a Tunisian-German DJ born in Düsseldorf and still based there. He began as a hip hop DJ and rapper, opening for artists including Usher, Ice Cube, Jamiroquai, Snoop Dogg and R. Kelly, and held a residency at Düsseldorf's Salon des Amateurs. After a summer in Ibiza in 2002, encouragement from Timo Maas and Sven Väth helped steer him toward house and techno.
That transition produced a DJ identity rooted in house and tech house with techno foundations, while retaining the directness of his earlier hip hop experience. He founded and runs Desolat, and has also released on Ovum, M_nus, Cadenza, Cocoon, Four Twenty, Ultra Music, Cuttin' Headz and KMS. His record with Dubfire for Cocoon and his Time Warp 07 compilation show the depth of his ties to the techno circuit. Loco Dice's long club history includes Space in Ibiza, where he previously appeared with Carl Cox, plus Ushuaïa, Hi Ibiza, Pacha, Fabric and Amnesia.
As of 2022, he divided time between Hi Ibiza and Pacha. He has also appeared at Time Warp and wrote runway soundtracks for Marcelo Burlon's Milan Men's Fashion Week shows. From hip hop support slots to Ibiza residencies and Desolat, Loco Dice has sustained a versatile, club-first career across house and techno.
