Locked Groove
Locked Groove is the alias of Belgian producer and DJ Tim Van de Meutter, who moved from Antwerp into the Berlin techno and house scene after his debut release caught the attention of Scuba, who signed him to Hotflush Recordings and featured his track Drowning on his DJ Kicks mix. Inverted Audio's early feature described his skill at shifting between the industrial intensity of Berghain-style techno and the lighter tones of Chicago house within a single set, a versatility that defined his growing reputation as a DJ rather than purely a studio producer. His contribution to Inverted Audio's IA Mix series showcased an all-out techno set drawing on artists including Four Tet, Basic Soul Unit and Conforce, output built specifically for DJ mix culture rather than commercial release. He later relocated to Berlin, where his 2019 debut album Sunset Service arrived on Hotflush after roughly two dozen EPs, with its release marked by a party at the Melancholie 2 club. Van de Meutter has been profiled by Groove magazine's A DJ's DJ series discussing fellow Belgian artist CJ Bolland, underscoring his standing within European techno's DJ community.
