Leftfield
Leftfield is the British electronic duo of Neil Barnes and Paul Daley, formed in 1989 and credited with helping shape the progressive house and big beat sound of the 1990s through both studio albums and a demanding live show. The pair's influence carried through to the live arena, where their sets have been staged at major festivals including Dekmantel in 2025 and Bugged Out! Meets Tresor events in London, sharing bills with acts such as Groove Armada, Dillinja and LTJ Bukem at Stowaway Festival in 2024.
Rather than standard club DJ sets, Leftfield have built their reputation on immersive live performances that translate their studio productions, including the influential Leftism album, into a heavyweight sound system experience. Their most recent album, This Is What We Do, extended a catalogue of releases that Leftfield describes as being at the cutting edge of dance music since the 1990s. Neil Barnes has continued to lead the project's live incarnation, with Resident Advisor listing him as the primary contact for ongoing bookings.
The duo's back catalogue remains a reference point for dance music's evolution from acid house through breakbeat and progressive house, sustaining Leftfield's presence on major festival lineups more than three decades after their formation.
