Krewella
Krewella is the American electronic dance duo of sisters Jahan and Yasmine Yousaf, formed in Northbrook, Illinois in 2007 and originally a trio with producer Kristopher "Rain Man" Trindl until his departure in 2014. Born in Houston to a Pakistani father and German-Lithuanian-American mother, the sisters built Krewella's early identity through festival and club DJ sets that blended electro house with pop songwriting, a combination that helped the act stand out on EDM festival lineups through the early 2010s.
Krewella toured extensively on the strength of their self-released material and later their Play Hard EP, playing sets at major American electronic festivals during the genre's commercial peak. The duo faced a widely reported visa denial ahead of a scheduled Sunburn festival performance in India, an incident tied to their Pakistani heritage that drew coverage well beyond the dance music press.
Since Trindl's exit, Jahan and Yasmine have continued performing and producing as a two-person act, maintaining Krewella's identity as a touring DJ duo rather than a purely studio-based project. Their catalogue and continued festival dates keep them active within the American EDM festival circuit, with the sisters' close creative partnership remaining central to the group's ongoing work.
