Koan Sound — Glitch Hop & Neurofunk DJ DuoKoan Sound
KOAN Sound is the Bristol production duo of Will Weeks and Jim Bastow, whose DJ and live sets have carried their glitch hop and neurofunk sound from the early UKF-era dubstep circuit onto amphitheatre stages. The pair toured North America on the AM Only-backed UKF Dubstep Tour alongside fellow Bristol act Gemini, an early marker of their crossover from studio project to touring live act.
KOAN Sound's shows blend DJ mixing with live elements, a hybrid approach captured on their April 2026 set recorded at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado and released as a full DJ set video. Their catalogue, built over some 15 years, spans glitch hop, neurohop, neurostep and drum and bass, and forms the backbone of sets that have been compiled into fan-made and official DJ mixes drawing on tracks like Woven, Prism Pulse and Max Out.
The duo continue to route their touring through both club-scale live shows, such as their billed date at the Miramar Theatre, and outdoor amphitheatre stops, keeping a hands-on approach to their sound design and stage setup rather than delegating their sets to a standard DJ booth. Based out of Bristol, KOAN Sound built its following through SoundCloud and YouTube before graduating to sustained international bookings that continue into the mid-2020s.
