King Unique

King Unique is the recording and DJ alias of British producer Matt Thomas, who began the project as a duo with Matthew Roberts in 2001 before continuing solo from 2006. His progressive house sets built a following through club dates and festival slots across the UK and Europe, aided by close ties to John Digweed's Bedrock camp. Within a five-month span, King Unique landed five tracks as Pete Tong's Essential New Tune on BBC Radio 1's Essential Selection, a run that pushed his DJ sets into wider rotation on club line-ups. His studio work crossed into remixing, reworking tracks for Underworld, The Killers and James Lavelle's UNKLE, projects that fed directly back into his own DJ sets and helped shape his reputation as a selector attuned to both dancefloor techno-tinged house and vocal-led progressive tracks. He has continued releasing on Bedrock-adjacent and independent electronic labels while maintaining a touring schedule built around club residencies and one-off bookings rather than a single anchor night, keeping King Unique active across the UK progressive house circuit for over two decades.
