About Judge Jules

Judge Jules is British DJ Julius O'Riordan MBE, a North London-based broadcaster and dance-music figure whose professional DJ career began in 1987. He first built a following at Club Valentino in Colchester, then joined pirate station Kiss FM before becoming one of the best-known voices in UK trance and house. His BBC Radio 1 show ran from October 1997 until March 2012, helping introduce many trance tracks and artists to a national audience; he has also hosted the syndicated Global Warm Up.

Ibiza has been a central setting for his DJ career. He launched Judgement Sundays at Eden in 1999, where the concept also ran as Judgement Fridays, and his club history includes Cream, Godskitchen, Gatecrasher, The Gallery at Turnmills, Goodgreef, Slinky and Passion. Festival and special-event appearances have included Creamfields, Global Gathering, Miami Winter Music Conference, Radio 1's One Big Weekend, Arsenal FC events and a set at Sydney Cricket Ground for an Australia-England Twenty20 match.

Jules' nimble mixing moves between large trance audiences and smaller house rooms. He has won Kiss FM Best Club DJ awards, the Ibiza Pacha Award for Best Trance DJ, and an Ibiza Award for Judgement Sundays. Alongside DJing he founded Judgement Recordings and remains an active curator of trance and house culture.
