John O'callaghan — Melodic & Vocal Trance DJJohn O'callaghan
John O'Callaghan is an Irish trance DJ from Navan whose early releases were closely tied to Discover, the British label founded by John Askew. His debut album Something to Live For appeared in 2007, and he quickly became a prominent name in trance through a blend of driving material and vocal collaborations. Those collaborations include Big Sky with Audrey Gallagher, Find Yourself with Sarah Howells and Surreal with Jaren.
An Agnelli & Nelson remix of Big Sky was voted Tune of the Year by listeners to Armin van Buuren's A State of Trance radio show in 2007. The following year, O'Callaghan won both Best Producer and Best DJ at the Irish Dance Music Awards and became the first Irishman to play Trance Energy. He has continued to appear regularly on A State of Trance festival stages.
His second album, Never Fade Away, was released through Armada in 2009, and in 2010 he started Subculture, his own sublabel on Black Hole Recordings. O'Callaghan has also released primarily through Armada sublabels Armind and Soundpiercing. His DJ career combines the international trance circuit with a continuing emphasis on melody, vocals and a label identity built around the Subculture name.
