About Jody Wisternoff

Jody Wisternoff, born 25 November 1973, is one half of Way Out West, the duo he formed with Nick Warren after the pair met in a Bristol record shop, a partnership documented on his Wikipedia page. Wisternoff's DJ pedigree stretches back to his early teens, when he reached the final of the DMC World DJ Championship at just thirteen years old in 1986, an early marker of technical skill that predated his production career by years.

He held a residency at Bristol's Lakota club, a venue central to the city's dance music scene through the 1990s, before Way Out West's success carried him onto larger festival and club stages internationally. Since Anjunadeep 05 in 2013, Wisternoff has co-curated the Anjunadeep compilation series alongside James Grant, continuing through Anjunadeep 16 in 2026, a role that has made him a consistent tastemaker for the label's melodic house and progressive sound over more than a decade.

That curatorial position sits alongside his own DJ sets, which draw on the same deep, melodic palette the compilations are known for. Wisternoff's combination of a DMC pedigree, a formative club residency, and a long-running label curation role gives him a well-documented four-decade path through UK dance music.
