Joachim Garraud

Reaching the 1500 mark is Joachim Garraud, a French DJ, remixer and producer born in Nantes who trained on piano and percussion at the city's regional conservatory before arriving in Paris in 1989 to produce for radio station Maxximum. He became a DJ at Le Boy, a Parisian club that hosted some of the first techno nights in France alongside contemporaries including Laurent Garnier, and by 1991 was mixing at large-scale events such as Moscow's Gagarine Party, dates in Manchester, and the Love Parade in Berlin, which drew more than a million people into the streets. In 1992 he opened his own studio, Square Prod, in Paris, and later that decade began a long production partnership with David Guetta, forming the label Gumprod in 2000 and co-writing 2007's global hit "Love Is Gone." Garraud held a resident DJ post at Space Ibiza in 2011, the same year DJ Mag ranked him 27th in its global poll, and he has headlined Tomorrowland, Coachella and Lollapalooza. Known on stage for his Space Invaders persona and mask, he blends DJ sets with live improvisation, and has also collaborated with Jean-Michel Jarre, Bob Sinclar, Cassius and Deep Dish across a career spanning acid house, techno and electro house.
