Jauz

Jauz is the stage name of Samuel Reed Vogel, an American DJ and producer from Mill Valley, California, who began playing guitar and producing electronic music on his computer at fifteen before attending the Icon Collective production school after a brief stint at a film program at Loyola Marymount University. He initially performed under the name Escape Dubstep before settling on Jauz, a name he has said he chose for being short and catchy despite personally disliking the word.

His career gained traction after producer Kennedy Jones played one of his remixes and introduced him to manager Moe Shalizi, which led to releases on Borgore's label Buygore. In 2014 he released “Feel the Volume” through Diplo's label Mad Decent, and the following year he collaborated with Skrillex on “Squad Out!,” also releasing material on Monstercat and Spinnin' Records.

Vogel founded his own record label, Bite This, in 2017, giving him a direct platform for his own material and other artists working in the bass house space he helped popularize. His transition from future house and dubstep-leaning production into a broader bass house sound has defined both his studio catalogue and his festival DJ sets across the American dance music circuit.
