Hixxy
Hixxy, the British happy hardcore DJ born in 1975, began performing as a disc jockey at age 15 under the mentorship of DJ Ramos and came to prominence in 1995 with the release of “Toy Town.” Alongside DJ Sharkey, he mixed the first “Bonkers” compilation for React Music in 1996, a series that grew to nineteen volumes and became credited with ushering in a new era of UK rave music, with Hixxy contributing mixes through “Bonkers 16” and beyond. In 2004, BBC Radio 1's John Peel invited him to record a mix for his show, later released as “Bonkers: Hixxy Mix as Heard on the John Peel Show,” and in 2005 Hixxy partnered with Darren Styles to launch the follow-up “Clubland X-Treme Hardcore” series, whose first two volumes both reached number one on the UK Compilation Chart and went gold. He has performed regularly at Bang Face Weekender and Hardcore Till I Die events across the UK, with additional shows in the United States and Australia, and continued performing live as recently as 2023, sustaining a three-decade run at the center of Britain's happy hardcore scene.
