Hertz
Hertz, the alias of Swedish DJ and producer Pierre Jerksten, has been active since 1994 after starting out as a DJ in Gothenburg in 1989. He placed second in Sweden and Europe at the DMC DJ Championship before improving to first in Sweden and fifth at the DMC World DJ Championship the following year, an early marker of his technical DJ skill. Jerksten went on to host a weekly show on Sweden's National Radio P3 starting in 1996, running programs including P3 Mix, P3 Remix, P3 Klubb and P3 Dans through to 2011, giving his techno and house sound national broadcast reach.
His touring took in European festivals and venues such as Dance Valley, Awakenings, Fabrik, Florida 135 and Le Zenith. Beyond DJing, he composed music for Swedish television programs including Fotbollskvall and Hockeykvall, broadcast on SVT. During the 1990s he produced and remixed artists including Dr.
Alban, E-Type, Eric Gadd, Meja and Emilia, work that ran alongside his own house and techno releases through labels including Sway and Q-Records. Jerksten's combination of national radio presence, DMC championship results and European festival dates has sustained the Hertz alias as a fixture of Swedish techno for over three decades.
