About Hannah Wants

Hannah Wants, born Hannah Alicia Smith, is a Birmingham-raised house DJ who taught herself to mix starting at age 16 before landing her first residency at the Rainbow Warehouse in Birmingham, a booking that led to regular dates across England. Her fast-paced, bass-heavy style, which draws from garage, techno and house, earned early support from tastemakers including Annie Mac, Shadow Child and Eats Everything, plus a fortnightly slot on BBC Radio 1Xtra and a Mixmag 'one to watch' tip that preceded her fabric London debut in the venue's Room Two. She has released a recurring bi-monthly mixtape series on SoundCloud, with individual editions drawing hundreds of thousands of plays, and toured extensively, including dates across Australia, South Africa and Mozambique alongside UK club and festival bookings such as Warehouse Project and Snowbombing. While primarily a DJ, she has also produced tracks with Chris Lorenzo, including Rude Boy, which passed a million SoundCloud listens, and she signed a track to the Rinse label early in her career. Wants continued playing internationally into recent years, including a 2024 date with Defected at The Chocolate Factory in Brooklyn, maintaining the bass-driven house sound that first built her reputation in the Midlands club scene.
