Gigi D'agostino

Gigi D'Agostino, born Luigino Celestino Di Agostino in Turin in 1967, started his DJ career in 1986 spinning Italo disco before moving into the Italo dance, progressive trance and house styles that would define his output. His biggest chart successes arrived around 1999 and 2000 with tracks including “Bla Bla Bla,” “Another Way,” a cover of Nik Kershaw's “The Riddle,” “La Passion,” “Super” and “L'Amour Toujours,” the last of which topped charts in Denmark, the Netherlands and Romania and reached the top ten in six other countries.

“L'Amour Toujours” also found a second life in 2018 when its hookline was used in a viral remix and mashup, reintroducing his work to new club and festival audiences worldwide. Across his career D'Agostino has recorded and performed under multiple aliases, including Lento Violento, Dottor Dag and Il Folklorista, reflecting the different tempos and styles he has explored as a DJ and producer since the mid-1980s.

He has released music through labels including BXR, Media Records, Discomagic and his own Gigi D'Agostino Planet imprint. Now active for close to four decades, D'Agostino remains a reference point in Italo dance history, having built his reputation first behind the decks before establishing himself as a hitmaking producer.
