Gabriel & Dresden
Gabriel & Dresden are the American house and trance duo of Josh Gabriel and Dave Dresden, formed in San Francisco. Their partnership brings together Gabriel's music-composition background at CalArts and Dresden's lengthy DJ experience, which already included more than a decade behind the decks. Before the duo formed, Dresden worked as Dave the Wave and held a residency of over ten years at BAR nightclub in New Haven, Connecticut, where he reported leading tracks to Billboard's Hot Dance Club Songs chart.
Gabriel & Dresden have released through Organized Nature, Armada and Anjunabeats, moving through house, trance, progressive house and electronic dance music. The duo's reunion was announced when they appeared as special guests at the Anjunabeats WMC Miami party at the Ice Palace. Dresden's stated philosophy—playing the right track at the right time and only playing great songs—offers a concise picture of their DJ focus.
His awards include Best Breakthrough DJ at the 2004 Dancestar Awards and Best American DJ at the WMC IDMA Awards, while “Beautiful Things” appeared on more than 800 compilations worldwide. Dresden later ran the Club Quarantine livestream formats Techno Tuesday, New Music Friday and Classics Saturday. Together, Gabriel & Dresden join a considered song-selection ethos to a deep history in American house and trance culture.
