Funtcase — Dubstep & Drum & Bass DJFuntcase
FuntCase, born James Hazell on 29 July 1986 in Bournemouth, England, is a dubstep and drum and bass DJ and producer. He first released drum and bass under the alias DJ Dose in 2007 before switching to the FuntCase name for his debut single in 2009, and in 2010 signed to Circus Records, the label run by Flux Pavilion and Doctor P, where he also records under the alias Haze.
Hazell performs wearing a signature mask that has become a visual trademark of his live shows, part of a stage identity built around high-intensity dubstep sets. His breakout release, the eight-track Don't Piss Me Off EP, arrived in early 2013 and stands as his largest single release to date, alongside the Circus Two showcase album he presented with fellow Circus artist Cookie Monsta.
FuntCase's catalogue includes remixes for artists such as Crystal Fighters, Sigma and Plan B, work that circulated widely in other DJs' live sets and helped extend his profile beyond his own headline shows. He continues to record and perform under the FuntCase name within the Circus Records dubstep roster, maintaining the mask-wearing persona that has defined his live performances since the early 2010s.
