Funkerman
Funkerman, born in Breda, Netherlands, is a Dutch house DJ and producer active since the early 1990s who built his reputation through club-chart hits and studio collaborations rather than a single festival residency. He first broke through in 2005 when “Rule the Night” and “The One” topped the Dutch club charts.
In 2007 he teamed with Fedde Le Grand under the alias F to the F for “Wheels In Motion,” which reached the Dutch Top 40, before his own single “Speed Up” crossed into international charts and led to a deal with the UK label Defected Records; the track later appeared as a downloadable song on the Xbox 360 karaoke game Lips. He followed with “3 Minutes To Explain,” again alongside Fedde Le Grand, and released the album House for All in 2010.
In January 2015 he contributed “Where Is Here Now” with Hardwell and I-Fan, included on Hardwell's debut album United We Are. Beyond his own DJ sets, Funkerman has shaped the Dutch house scene from behind the scenes, running Flamingo Recordings alongside Raf Jansen and Fedde Le Grand, and in May 2011 he and Jansen signed an exclusive publishing deal with Sony ATV that led to the launch of Can You Feel It Records, extending his influence across production and artist development within Dutch dance music.
