About Funk D'void

Funk D'Void, born Lars Sandberg in Glasgow in 1971, is a DJ and producer who has worked at the forefront of the global electronic music scene since the mid-1990s and remains closely tied to Glasgow's Soma Records, the label co-founded by fellow Scottish duo Slam. Sandberg began DJing around age 15, running two under-18 club nights with a school friend before moving into commercial and later underground house and techno production.

His name, taken from the George Clinton-associated character Sir Nose D'Void of Funk, has also appeared as an alias under the names Francois Dubois and Frank Dubois across different release contexts. Sandberg built his profile through globe-spanning DJ sets alongside a catalogue of productions that helped define house and techno's development from the mid-1990s onward, work that Electronic Groove has credited with helping shape multiple generations of the genre.

His decades-long association with Soma Records places him within the same Glasgow lineage as Slam, Jeff Mills-adjacent techno collaborators and other artists who passed through the label's roster. Sandberg continues to be recognized within the European techno community for both his production catalogue and his sustained touring career, with Soma Records remaining the anchor point for his output even as his club dates have taken him well beyond Scotland.
