Ftampa — Big Room EDM DJ & ProducerFtampa
FTampa, born Felipe Augusto Ramos on 2 June 1987, is a Brazilian DJ and producer. Raised in Conselheiro Lafaiete, Minas Gerais, he played guitar and keyboard in rock bands as a child before a cousin introduced him to electronic music in 2011, drawing him to DJing partly because it required no backing band.
He first performed under the name Tampa, a childhood nickname referencing his short stature, before adding the initial F after discovering another DJ using the same name once he began working in the United States. Dutch DJ Hardwell's championing of his track Kick It Hard in live sets helped push FTampa's productions into the repertoires of David Guetta, Calvin Harris, Afrojack and Tiësto, leading to bookings at Burning Man in 2013 and Rock in Rio Las Vegas in 2015.
In 2016, FTampa played 12 monthly shows across venues in Belo Horizonte and Los Angeles, and on 24 July that year he became the first Brazilian DJ to perform on the main stage at Tomorrowland in Belgium. He reached DJ Mag's Top 101-150 DJs list at number 116 in 2015 and number 105 in 2016, and his track reached the top spot on Beatport's chart in 2015.
