Friction

Friction, born Edward Keeley in Brighton, is a British drum and bass DJ and producer who rose through the scene from the 1990s onward to become one of its most consistently booked names. He hosted BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra's dedicated drum and bass show for six years, stepping down from the role to refocus on his artist career, label work and family.

Friction runs his own record labels, Shogun Audio and Elevate Records, giving him a platform to release both his own productions and material from other artists within the genre. He was inducted into the Drum & Bass Arena Hall of Fame in 2011, recognition for his standing as one of the scene's most technically adept DJs, and Pete Tong has described him as one of the genre's key figures.

Friction has also recorded a BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix, adding to a catalogue of high-profile radio and festival appearances built over more than two decades. His work spans DJing under both the Friction name and his FineArt alias, and his sustained presence across radio, label ownership and touring has made him one of the most recognized ambassadors for drum and bass in the UK scene.
