Freestylers
Freestylers are a British electronic act built around DJs Matt Cantor and Aston Harvey, whose big beat and breakbeat sets grew out of London's late-1980s b-boy and DJ scene before the group's formation in 1996. Both members were working DJs and producers individually before joining forces, with Cantor recording as Cut'n'Paste and Harvey behind the 1990 breakbeat classic Don't Hold Back as part of Blapps!
Posse. The group's breakout track B-Boy Stance led to remix commissions for Audioweb, Afrika Bambaataa and the Jungle Brothers, plus a BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix in 1998 that placed them among the featured DJ names on the UK's flagship dance radio slot.
Freestylers have continued releasing new material into 2026, including the album Enter the Sound, while maintaining an active DJ mix presence, illustrated by their Other Worlds DJ mix posted to SoundCloud. A recent podcast interview with Harvey for A DJ's Journey traced the duo's role in shaping UK breakbeat and rave culture across a career now spanning close to three decades of touring and studio work.
