Firebeatz
Firebeatz are Tim Smulders and Jurre van Doeselaar, a Dutch DJ duo who met at art school in Tilburg and formed the project in 2008, building a club and festival career on the back of Dutch radio support from Radio 538 and SLAM!FM. Their singles Dear New York and Here We F***ing Go became mainstays of their own sets and of other DJs' festival programming, while Helicopter, made with Martin Garrix, widened their reach into the big-room circuit that dominated Dutch dance radio in the early 2010s.
Firebeatz built their profile through remix work for artists including Calvin Harris and Tiësto, each remix doubling as new material for their touring sets, a common pathway for Dutch house and electro house DJs of their generation. The duo's sound leans toward radio-friendly progressive and electro house, designed as much for club dance floors as for daytime airplay, and their bookings have followed the same trajectory as many acts that came out of the Netherlands' commercial dance scene in the early 2010s.
Their sets typically combine their own singles with remixes and edits tailored to the festival stages and club residencies where Dutch dance acts of their cohort have historically built lasting careers. Firebeatz remain associated with the Netherlands' commercially oriented house and electro house DJ scene of the past decade and a half.
