Fergie

Fergie is the professional name of Robert Ferguson, a Northern Irish DJ and electronic music artist from Larne who has toured internationally as a hard house and techno DJ for more than two decades. He presented a radio show on BBC Radio 1 for over four years and recorded thirteen Essential Mixes for the station, making his debut on the show on 14 January 2001 after being recommended by fellow DJ and producer Judge Jules. Following that debut, Fergie became a bi-monthly resident for Essential Mix alongside Carl Cox, recording further mixes that same year and becoming closely associated with the hard house sound that defined his sets between 1995 and 2000.

His DJ residencies included club nights Trade, Godskitchen, Sundissential, Golden and Passion in the UK, alongside international slots at superclubs including Cream in Liverpool and Amnesia in Ibiza. Ferguson learned directly from hard house and techno figure Tony De Vit early in his career, an influence he has cited as formative to his sound. He performed a DJ set at BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend in Preston in May 2007, one of several high-profile UK festival and radio appearances during his run as the station's Essential Mix resident.

Ferguson continues to perform and discuss his career on platforms including the Hard House History podcast, reflecting on more than two decades since his breakthrough on national radio.
