About Felix da Housecat

Felix Stallings Jr., known as Felix da Housecat, is an American DJ and electronic artist born in Detroit and raised in Park Forest outside Chicago. Introduced to acid house at about 15 by DJ Pierre, he released his debut single “Phantasy Girl” in 1987 and became associated with the second wave of Chicago house. His work crosses house, techno, big beat, alternative dance, electroclash and synth-pop, while his recorded aliases include Aphrohead, Wonderboy, Rocketmann, Outerrealm, Thee Glitz and Thee Maddkatt Courtship.

Felix da Housecat's 2001 album Kittenz and thee Glitz marked a major moment, described as sparking a synth-club revival and built squarely around DJ and club culture. Its Moroder-informed beats, funky synth lines and deliberately stylish vocals were sharpened by collaborations with Miss Kittin on “Silver Screen” and “Madame Hollywood.” The follow-up Devin Dazzle and the Neon Fever adopted live musicians and a more song-based, punk and post-new-wave direction. Although he studied media and communication at Alabama State University, his enduring identity comes from an acid-house education and a willingness to bend club forms into colourful, synthetic pop.

His catalogue remains a connection between Chicago house roots and an electroclash-era appetite for bold hooks, electronic texture and character.
