Drumsound & Bassline Smith
Drumsound & Bassline Smith, the British drum and bass trio of Andy Wright, Ben Wiggett and Simon Smith, formed their partnership at a Derby club night in the summer of 1998. Their label Technique Recordings, founded the following year, celebrated its twentieth anniversary in 2019 and has anchored a DJ and production career spanning more than two decades. Their sets remain a fixture of BBC Radio 1's drum and bass programming, with recorded mixes broadcast as recently as 2026 alongside remixes and unreleased material played out live.
A regular back-to-back billing with DJ SS on D&BTV has also become part of their touring format, extending their reach into online radio and streamed sets beyond club dates. Tracks such as Shine a Light and R U Ready, released through Technique and New State Music, sit alongside remixes of Roni Size and Dillinja that circulate widely in other DJs' sets. Rinse FM has hosted their programming as part of a broader relationship with drum and bass radio outlets in the UK.
Wright and Wiggett had already spent a year producing together as Drumsound before meeting Smith, who brought experience from the D&B scene dating back to the early 1980s. Together they have built one of the longer-running production and DJ partnerships in the UK's drum and bass scene.
