Drop the Lime
Drop the Lime is the performing name of Luca Venezia, a New York-born DJ and producer who was active from 2004 to 2015 and founded the dance label Trouble & Bass. His early sets and productions grew out of breakcore, before a 2008 shift toward more mainstream dance styles broadened his club appeal, and his live shows became known for incorporating live vocals over his own original compositions rather than a standard DJ set. That year he also remixed tracks for Armand Van Helden, Little Boots, Robyn, Moby, Rex the Dog and Buraka Som Sistema, work that placed him within a wider bass-music remix circuit spanning electro, dubstep and dance-punk. Venezia later folded his love of rockabilly into a bass-driven sound that distinguished his sets from typical club DJ fare, giving Drop the Lime a distinctive niche within Trouble & Bass's broader roster. The project wound down in 2015 as Venezia moved on to other musical work, but the label he built and the run of remixes and original productions from that decade remain the core of his recorded legacy as a DJ and producer who helped shape New York's bass-music scene of the late 2000s.
