DJs from Mars is the Italian duo of Luca Emanuele Ventrafridda, also known as Luca Ventafunk, and Massimiliano Garino, also known as Max Aqualuce. Both worked as young producers at the Turin label Bliss Corporation, known for Eiffel 65, before meeting in 2003. After making tracks together for several years, they launched DJs from Mars and developed a DJ identity around turning familiar popular songs into EDM mashups and bootlegs.
Their online work gained wide attention, including a Metallica versus Lady Gaga bootleg that Lady Gaga featured on Twitter; their YouTube channel later exceeded 10 million views. Their performance image is equally recognisable, with the pair appearing live in cardboard boxes worn over their heads. In 2011 they opened for Tiësto in Atlantic City, and in 2022 they played the Tomorrowland Mainstage.
They have been associated with the Dance and Love label and have kept the mashup format at the centre of their public presence. Beyond club releases, the duo appeared as the main characters in Gillette's 2015 Shave Forth advertising campaign. DJs from Mars bring a playful visual concept to a set-building method based on unexpected combinations, translating well-known songs into direct, festival-ready electronic moments.
