Koze
DJ Koze is the performing name of Stefan Kozalla, a German DJ and producer from Flensburg who has run his own label, Pampa Records, out of Hamburg since establishing himself in the German scene. He started out in the early 1990s as a rapper and DJ for hip-hop crews in Flensburg before placing second in the German DMC Championship in 1991 and moving into house and techno. His DJ mix credits carry particular weight in the scene, including a 2009 Resident Advisor podcast, FACT and XLR8R mixes in 2013, and DJ-Kicks: DJ Koze in 2015, the 50th volume of Studio !K7's respected DJ-Kicks series. He has played major festivals such as Coachella, Sónar, Time Warp, Melt!, Fusion Festival, Tomorrowland, Roskilde and Amsterdam Dance Event, building a reputation as a selector whose sets range fluidly across techno, house, microhouse and deep house. His production output, released through Pampa, Kompakt and Studio !K7 among others, supports rather than overshadows his standing as a DJ, with his catalogue stretching back to 1988 and continuing into the present.
