Fresh — Drum & Bass DJ & Founder

Fresh, born Daniel Edward Stein on 11 April 1977 and known professionally as DJ Fresh, is an English drum and bass DJ who cut his teeth as a founding member of Bad Company UK before establishing a solo touring and label career. He co-founded the label Breakbeat Kaos, which became a central force in UK drum and bass through releases including Bad Company's “The Nine” in 1998, later voted the genre's greatest track of all time by readers of Knowledge Magazine. His compilation mix album Breakbeat Kaos, mixed alongside Adam F, documented the label's DJ-facing side and its place in the wider jungle and drum and bass club scene, and his single “Hypercaine” earned a place on BBC Radio 1's daytime playlist in 2009, extending his profile beyond specialist club nights. Fresh released the studio albums Escape from Planet Monday in 2006, Kryptonite in 2010 and Nextlevelism in 2012, the latter two spawning UK number-one singles “Louder,” featuring Sian Evans, and “Hot Right Now,” featuring Rita Ora, both of which crossed from club play into mainstream radio rotation. He later relaunched Breakbeat Kaos with the single “Dancing In The Dark,” continuing to anchor his career in the label and DJ circuit that first established him as one of drum and bass's consistent touring figures.
