Dixon
Dixon, born Steffen Berkhahn in Anklam and raised in East Berlin, is a German house and techno DJ who co-founded the Berlin label Innervisions. He began DJing in Berlin clubs including Turbine, Tresor, E-Werk and WMF in the early 1990s, holding a weekly residency at WMF alongside Mitja Prinz that he has described as formative to his development behind the decks. His residencies at Tresor, WMF and later Weekend Club were built around long-form sets, and in a city defined by techno, Dixon carved out a reputation as a deep house specialist known for extended, narrative-driven programming.
Resident Advisor voted him the number one DJ in its Top 100 DJ Poll in 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016, a four-year run that placed him at the center of the global house and techno conversation. German newspaper Die Welt credited him with bringing vocals back into techno-adjacent club music. In 2019 he launched an Ibiza residency and companion digital platform called Transmoderna, extending his presence into the island's summer season.
Beyond DJing, Dixon co-owns the clubwear brand Together We Dance Alone, but his standing in dance music rests primarily on his Innervisions club nights and his sustained run atop Resident Advisor's global rankings.
