Dirtyphonics — Drum & Bass & Dubstep DJDirtyphonics
Dirtyphonics are a Paris-born French electronic band built around Charles-Eric Florian Jacques “Charly” Barranger and Julien Robert Rene “PitchIn” Corrales. Founded in 2004, the project began presenting live shows in 2006; Corrales joined two years later, when the group also signed to Shimon's AudioPorn Records. Their early single “French F**k” stayed at the top of Beatport's charts for several weeks, helping introduce their high-impact approach to an international audience.
Drawing on members' backgrounds in metal bands, Dirtyphonics fuse drum and bass, dubstep and other bass music with heavy-metal weight and cinematic detail. Barranger has characterised the intent behind the sound as powerful, precise and designed for impact. That approach has translated to appearances at Coachella on two occasions, as well as France's Main Square, Solidays and Elektric Park.
Their festival record also includes EDC, Glastonbury, SXSW, Pukkelpop, WMC, Tomorrowland and Rampage. In 2024, the album Magnetic again combined drum and bass, dubstep and metal influences. Dirtyphonics' DJ and live identity is therefore rooted in forceful bass programming, but it is equally defined by the way rock dynamics and cinematic scale feed their sets for large rooms and festival crowds.
