Designer Drugs is the American electronic duo of Michael Vincent Patrick and Theodore Paul Nelson. Originally based in New York City and later associated with Philadelphia, the pair are known for what has been described as punishing electro-punk: a hard-edged, high-energy style supported by an extensive remix catalogue. Their performance record includes roughly 500 gigs across six continents, demonstrating the touring scope behind the project.
Designer Drugs released the debut album Hardcore/Softcore through Ultra Records in February 2011; it reached the iTunes top 10. The duo later released The Drugs Are In Control through Sex Cult Records in 2014. Alongside their albums, they produced an estimated 50 to 70 remixes, reinforcing the remix-heavy character of their output and DJ-facing profile.
Beatport cited Technique's selection of Designer Drugs among the Americas' top 10 best DJs. The project connects abrasive electro energy with a substantial global gig history, while their Ultra and Sex Cult releases mark key stages in its development.
