David Forbes
David Forbes, a Glaswegian trance veteran, built a DJ and production career that began in 1993 as a hardcore and gabba producer at Hanger 13 before he transitioned into trance music. He became a member of the chart-topping act Public Domain, whose 2000 hit Operation Blade brought his early production work into the mainstream dance charts. Since 1999, most of his output has run under his own name, with releases appearing on major trance labels including Vandit, Subculture, Perfecto Fluoro, Outburst and Armada Music, according to his artist profile on Trance Nexus.
He has held an exclusive signing relationship with at least one of these imprints across his career, reflecting a sustained relationship between his studio output and the labels that support his DJ sets. Interviews, including one on Flux BPM Online, have described him as a DJ, producer and label owner, indicating he has also worked on the business side of the trance scene beyond performing. His social media and SoundCloud presence continue to promote his ongoing releases and DJ bookings, run through his own site and management contacts.
Forbes remains active within the trance and hardcore-adjacent DJ scene more than three decades after his career began in Glasgow's early rave circuit.
