About Dave Seaman

Dave Seaman is a British DJ from Leeds and Garforth in West Yorkshire whose career is closely tied to progressive house, tech house, techno and the art of the long-form mix album. Before becoming known for DJ compilations and label work, he was a member of DMC Publishing and editor of Mixmag. He also formed Brothers in Rhythm with Steve Anderson, later joined by Alan Bremner. The production team worked with Pet Shop Boys and Kylie Minogue and remixed artists including David Bowie, New Order, U2 and Michael Jackson.

Seaman's DJ identity is especially documented through a substantial series of mixes, beginning with Mixmag, Vol. 1 alongside Carl Cox in 1991. His catalogue then included Renaissance's Masters Series and numerous Global Underground volumes, among them Buenos Aires, Cape Town, Melbourne and Lithuania. He founded Audio Therapy and runs Selador Recordings with Steve Parry, extending his role from selector to label curator.

His releases and affiliations have also included Renaissance, Global Underground, Stress Records, Sudbeat, Noir, Suara, Hive Audio and Armada, which issued Beyond Borders: Berlin in 2015. Seaman's enduring contribution is a refined progressive sound and a mix-album tradition that has documented electronic music across changing eras and international settings.
