About Danny Howard

Danny Howard is a British DJ and radio host born in 1987 who won BBC Radio 1's Superstar DJ competition in August 2011 after besting five other competitors across a series of challenges. He was given his own Saturday show, Radio 1's Dance Anthems, in April 2012, before moving to a Friday primetime slot in November 2017 and later hosting Radio 1's Dance Party on Friday evenings from September 2021 following Annie Mac's departure, and Dance Party Warm-Up from July 2024. While studying sport and exercise science at Edge Hill University he held a residency at The Syndicate in Blackpool, one of the UK's biggest nightclubs, before a brief run playing for Ministry of Sound in Egypt. In the summer of 2012 he played Judgment Sundays in San Antonio, Ibiza, hosted by Judge Jules, working both the opening and closing parties, and spent June and July of that year playing regular dates at BCM in Magaluf. He closed the Xstatic summer festival on 30 June 2012 and played Coloursfest in Scotland the same year, building a DJ career that runs alongside his role as one of BBC Radio 1's dance-music hosts.
