D.RAMIREZ
D. Ramirez, born Dean Marriott in England in 1970, is a house DJ and producer active since 1995 who became known as a champion of upbeat electro house before shifting toward underground techno in later years. He has recorded under several pseudonyms, including The Lisa Marie Experience with Neil Hynde, as well as Cordial, Finger Fest and Rambo, spreading his output across genres from acid house to tech house.
D. Ramirez owns the label Slave Recordings, through which he released his own EP Nitr8, and issued the D.Ramirez & Friends EP on Toolroom Records in 2011 featuring collaborations with Kristoph and Robert Owens. His DJ sets have long avoided chasing commercial trends, a stance he has attributed to discomfort with expectations tied to mainstream success.
Ramirez appeared on BBC Television's Top of the Pops during his commercial peak, a marker of the crossover reach his electro house productions achieved even as his DJ sets retained an underground edge. He continues to run his label and produce music from his London studio, maintaining a career that has moved fluidly between commercial dance-floor hits and more niche techno output over three decades.
