Culoe de Song
Culoe De Song is the performing name of Culolethu Zulu, a South African DJ, producer and sangoma from Eshowe, KwaZulu-Natal, who began DJing in Durban clubs alongside Black Coffee and visiting international artists such as Louie Vega and Rocco. His break came via a 2008 Red Bull Music Academy session, after which his debut release, "The Bright Forest," appeared on Innervisions and drew attention from the European deep house circuit. He has performed at Sónar in Spain, the Amsterdam Dance Event, Winter Music Conference in Miami, Rocking the Daisies and Oppikoppi in South Africa, and Boiler Room's Stay True Johannesburg session, sharing bills with Seth Troxler, Richie Hawtin, Carl Craig and Âme. Culoe De Song recorded a mix for Resident Advisor's RA podcast series, and his releases have run through Soulistic Music, Innervisions, Mule Musiq and his own label DeSongMusic, alongside a recent signing to Damian Lazarus's Crosstown Rebels. He won Best Male Artist at the 2014 Metro FM Awards and remains one of South Africa's most consistently touring Afro house and deep house selectors, still active on the festival and club circuit.
