About Coyu

Coyu is the performing name of Iván Ramos, a Barcelona-born DJ and producer who founded the techno and house label Suara in 2008 after an earlier label, Atypical Farm, and has spent more than fifteen years touring behind that catalog. His entrepreneurial path started in journalism and promotion before he moved into the studio and DJ booth, a trajectory that fed directly into Suara's growth into a label recognized by Resident Advisor and Beatport alike, both of which have placed Suara releases at number one on their respective charts. Coyu has played Sónar three times and held a residency across three seasons of his own party in Ibiza, alongside remix work reworking tracks by Fatboy Slim, Joseph Capriati and Moby. His debut full-length album, You Don't Know, arrived in 2019 after roughly a decade of releasing music, featuring collaborations with The Horrorist and Moby among others, and was described by Gray Area as evidence that Coyu's studio work extends beyond typical club-functional tracks. Alongside his DJ career, he founded the Suara Foundation, a nonprofit supporting street cats, a cause tied closely to his public persona within the techno scene.
