About Claude Vonstroke
Claude VonStroke, born Barclay Macbride Crenshaw on July 7, 1971, is an American house DJ based in Los Angeles who founded Dirtybird Records in January 2005. He produced a mix for the Fabric series, released in May 2009, and has appeared on Pete Tong's Essential Mix radio show in 2007, 2013, and 2020, marking recurring recognition from one of dance radio's most prominent platforms. In 2016, he was named America's Best DJ in the Pioneer DJ and DJ Times annual poll, and the following year he was nominated for both DJ of the Year and Radio Show of the Year, for The Birdhouse, at the Electronic Music Awards.
Crenshaw grew up in Cleveland and Detroit before moving to Los Angeles, where he worked in film production and interviewed more than 50 DJs for the documentary Intellect: Techno House Progressive between 2002 and 2003. That research fed directly into his DJ career and the founding of Dirtybird, the label he built with his wife Aundy, which Mixmag named label of the decade in 2017. His debut album, Beware of the Bird, arrived in July 2006, followed by Bird Brain in 2009.
He tours regularly under the Dirtybird banner, including the label's branded boat parties and festival stages, and continues collaborating with artists such as Green Velvet.
