About Claptone
Claptone is a Berlin-based German house and tech-house DJ whose real identity is not publicly disclosed. Performing behind a golden plague-doctor-style mask and white gloves, he has made anonymity a defining part of a deep-house persona designed to create public intrigue. Recognition arrived in 2013 with No Eyes featuring JAW from dOP, followed by a run of albums including Charmer, The Masquerade, Fantast, Closer and Wanderer. His remix of Gregory Porter's Liquid Spirit was a major club breakthrough: it debuted on BBC Radio 1's Essential Mix, topped the Beatport chart and became one of the biggest tunes of 2015.
Claptone's DJ career is especially associated with Ibiza, where he held a three-year residency at Pacha, a year at Amnesia and a residency at Hï Ibiza, formerly Space. He is now in a second year at Chinois Ibiza. His international schedule has also included Tomorrowland, Coachella in 2016 and Exchange LA. In April 2016, he debuted Claptone IMMORTAL, a two-DJ live-performance concept that toured in separate European and American versions.
The project has sustained curiosity as well as dancefloor focus; a reported appearance at three venues in one day fueled speculation that Claptone might be more than one person. Beneath the mask, his enduring public signature is a polished, theatrical route through global deep and tech house.
