Chez Damier

Chez Damier, born Anthony Pearson, is a Chicago-born DJ and producer whose career traces the roots of Detroit and Chicago house from the late 1980s onward. Exposed to Chicago's club scene by age thirteen, when Frankie Knuckles was already active, Pearson later moved to Detroit, where he connected with Derrick May and entered the techno scene, eventually contributing production work to Inner City's album Paradise.

He served as an A&R manager for Kevin Saunderson's KMS Records while developing his own DJ and production career, at one point forming the remix duo Power 41 with Marc Kinchen. Damier co-founded Prescription Records with Ron Trent, a label that became a touchstone for deep house, and his 1992 track “Can You Feel It?” remains his best-known production.

As a DJ, he has continued to play deep house and house sets internationally, drawing on decades spent inside the Chicago-Detroit axis that shaped both genres. His combination of DJing, A&R work, and label ownership placed him at the center of house music's formative years, and he continues to be sought out for interviews and sets that trace that lineage for newer generations of dancers and producers.
