Chambray

Chambray, the Berlin-based producer and DJ born André Rost, began his career when a demo EP he sent to Jimmy Edgar in 2014 led to his signing as the first Berlin-based artist on Edgar's Ultramajic label. His debut EP YUU launched a run of releases including Rub and Work That, tracks that built a devoted following and led to a Boiler Room appearance that helped establish his DJ profile beyond studio work. His debut album Reliev arrived on Ultramajic following the earlier EPs, condensing influences from his techno upbringing, his mother's love of African music and his later discovery of Chicago ghetto house into a distinctive dancefloor sound.

Since 2017 he has released material independently through Dirtybird, Unknown to the Unknown, W&O Street Tracks and &Friends, extending his reach across house-focused labels beyond his original techno base. His Metronome mix for Insomniac explored darker underground sounds blended with lighter Chicago house funk, a pairing that reflects the range he draws on in his DJ sets. Remixes of Boys Noize, Amtrac and Panteros666, along with collaborations with Laurent Garnier, Truncate and DJ Haus, have connected his studio work directly to the tracks he plays out live.

He continues to work as a producer and DJ under the Chambray name, having built his profile on the strength of dark, staccato-driven house and techno productions rather than crossover commercial material.
